“Estradiol Modulates the Expression Pattern of Myosin Heavy Chain Subtypes via an ERa-
Mediated Pathway in Muscle-Derived Tissues and Satellite Cells”
[Cell Physiol Biochem 2013;33(3):681-691, DOI:10.1159/000358644].
have requested retraction on the following basis:
Recently, we reviewed this article during repeating the culture of muscle-derived myoblasts. We
notice that the right panel in Fig. 1A, which presented micro-photograph of rat GG Muscle-derived
satellite cells (MDSCs) morphology in OVX+E2 group, was identical to the middle panel in Fig. 1A
of another article by the first author Tao Guo.
Also, we could not repeat the result of Fig. 2, 3 and 6, which are the critical results of this article.
After using 1×10-7mol/L estrogen to treat OVX-MDSCs or not, we could not observe the difference
between ERa and ERß levels, as well as MHCI, IIa and IIb expressions.
Furthermore, the article describes the cells as “muscle-derived satellite cells” which is not very
accurate. However, we prefer to believe of the cells cultured by this method were primary myoblast
cells. Since the characteristics of “muscle-derived satellite cells” in this paper were similar to the
myoblast cell line C2C12 in our previously published article (Cell Death Dis 2019;10:552).
We apologize to find these mistakes in this article. In the spirit of academic rigour and in order to
ensure the quality of the CPB journal, we now request a retraction of this article.
